Aphex Twin

Aphex Twin is an ambient music artist originally from Cornwall.

Born Richard Aphex Twin, his sound derives from being accidentally locked for days in a bathroom of an abandoned house, with his radio left on outside with its faulty tuner swinging from station to station. After this experience, he was never the same. He began to follow techno and ambient music, always insisting on listening from inside a bathroom. After converting his own bathroom into a studio, he began to record his own music made by carefully pressing a magnetized rod against recording tape.

He became a rave DJ, with his mixes insuring that everyone attending would be asleep within an hour of arriving at the venue. He continued to release recordings under various other names but was soon outed as reviewers always fell asleep while listening to those tracks.
